Joel Gellvear is a graduate of the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy and grew up in a small town in Saskatchewan playing volleyball and hockey. He followed his passion and played competitive junior A hockey in the United States for three years, where he captained his team in his last year. He personally has experienced how demanding sports are on the body and how important good maintenance and recovery are.

A treatment with Joel Gellvear would consist of general Swedish techniques to warm up the tissue, myofascial techniques to open space in the tissues, deep targeted techniques to release tense muscles, specific stretching techniques to gain a greater range of motion, and joint mobilizations to increase joint nutrition, circulation and the space within joints for more comfortable range of motion. Joel has a special interest in athletic therapy but welcomes all patients whatever their background.

Away from the clinic, some hobbies he enjoys are playing hockey, resistance training, walking around beautiful Vancouver with his wife, and reading non-fiction books. He loves his career as an RMT and always looks forward to continue learning more about the body and help his patients reach peak performance whatever that may be.
